China reels under economic slowdown, slowest in 25 years. Wages and bonuses have been withheld across all sectors leading to rising labor unrest. Beijing is concerned over the financial pressure build up, which might possibly escalate social unrest.

    Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI), the benchmark index, for Chinese manufacturing sector was 49.4 in January indicating a consecutive sixth month fall in activities. The prediction by Analysts was 49.6. In the previous month it was 49.7 and has been falling for the last almost three and a half years, since August 2012, according to an official survey. The mark below 50 indicates negative growth. 

    China-based hackers are targeting their own country too apart from the US, where they hacked the US office of Personnel Management and corporate espionage. 

       Recently in September, Apple’s security was at stake due to an imitation copy of its XCode software development tool was shared in a file sharing site.

    Taiwan is considered by China to be part of its sovereign territory. Therefore, the landslide victory for Taiwan’s independence-oriented Democratic Progressive Party in last weekend’s elections may appear as a threat to the nations’ relationship.
